Tundra Dream

The vulnerability of a changing world. A project in the making.

During a stay in the Artists’ cabin in Ny-Ålesund last August, Svalbard captured my heart. From the impressions a couple of themes grew, still developing; related to survival, adaption, love and care.

Seen related to the changes in climate, especially noticeable on Svalbard, these words extend their meaning – where adaption may seem impossible. I see my project as a commentary to this.

Through the photos of flowers that have found ways to survive in this arctic desert, I am trying to express feelings of dreams and hope, maybe unreality, but also a ruthlessness in the struggle for survival not usually associated with beautiful flowers. Maybe more related to human circumstances and efforts in a changing world.
